Bangkok, Thailand—Thomasian Innovators won big during the International Creativity and Innovation Awards held at King Mongkut’s University of Technology Thonburi (KMUTT) last April 26 to 28, 2024.

The Viable Arduino-Based River Water Level Monitoring System (VAMoS) of Crizel Anne Abangan, Diondrae Joe Alingasa and Aleah Angela Rose received both the Titanium Award and the Grand Award.

Meanwhile, the Concentrated Autonomous Solar Technology (CAST) of Russel Fernandez, Kyan Roldan Rigor Joeross Villanueva won the Silver Award.

VAMoS is an innovation of the use of Arduino programming system and flood water monitoring technologies that is intended to warn riverbank communities of the imminence of flood.

CAST is an innovation of the solar power technology that tracks the direction of the sun in the process of harnessing its power to convert into electricity.

Mentors and judges of the ICIA 2024 were from the Southeast Asian countries like Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam. There were also judges and educators from Australia, Canada, Hong Kong and Slovakia.

Thomasian Innovators were accompanied by CST-R research mentors Ma. Nita Bolo, head of the Student Development and Placement Center, and Maria Cindy Gabutas, Quality Assurance Officer.
