Ten volunteers of the Lunhaw Ecological Ministry of the Diocese of San Carlos and Thomasians from Grade 7, Section Blessed Vicente Soler, joined in the Doodle for Peace program of the ARCORES International, last November 24, 2023, at the CST-R Audio-Visual Room.
Doodle for Peace is an international creative movement that teaches the Gospel of Peace through art and creativity to children and the young adults. The activitiy is especially relevant with on-going wars between Israel and Hamas, Russia and Ukraine and the ensuing political killings in Negros Island.
Lunhaw lay coordinator Janilyn Ferolino was the facilitator. During her short lecture on Peace, Ferolino emphasized that children have a huge role to play in the global call for peace in that their own ways and values can be formed to promote peace.
Lunhaw volunteer Jannah Shane Cañete said that creativity, such us doodling, is an expression that brings people together and that this togetherness is a solidarity of Peace.
Thomasian Maevin Jen Manon-og, Grade 7-BVS class president, led the Prayer of Peace by St. Francis of Assisi.
The art works are now displayed on the bulletin boards of CST-R along the canteen lobby.
Fray Jaazeal Jakosalem, OAR, President of ARCORES International and a member of CST-R Batch 1990, designed the Doodle for Peace.
