Colegio de Sto. Tomas-Recoletos finally declares its College Department open!

With its pioneering program on Bachelor of Science in Entrepreneurship, CST-R is now a Higher Education Institution (HEI) duly permitted to operate based on Commission on Higher Education Regional Office 6 Government Permit No. 03, Series of 2022, signed by Regional Director Raul C. Alvarez, Jr., REE, Ed. D., CESO III.

Declaration. On March 28, 2022, Rev. Fr. Joel Alve, OAR (L), Rev. Fr. Vicente Ramon, Jr., OAR (C) and Rev. Fr. Renier Alviola, OAR (R) sign the “Declaration” of the opening of CST-R’s College Department.

CHED RO 6 granted CST-R the Initial Permit “to operate the First and Second Curriculum level of Bachelor of Science in Entrepreneurship” last February 8, 2022.

The opening of the College Department highlights CST-R’s commitment to the education and formation of the Filipino youth as it looks forward to its centennial celebration.

Rev. Fr. Joel Alve, OAR is now the college president while Rev. Fr. Vicente Ramon, Jr., OAR is the vice-president for finance and administration. Rev. Fr. Renier Alviola, OAR is the vice-president for religious affairs.

Both Fr. Alve and Fr. Ramon dedicate CST-R’s historic achievement under their administration to the late Rev. Fr. Rafael Cabarles, OAR, who was the first to envision CST-R’s College Department when he was the director from 1988 to 1994.

Fr. Cabarles supported CST-R’s application for Initial Permit to Operate as HEI when the process began in 2020.

CST-R’s BS in Entrepreneurship program shall focus on producing graduates who are skilled and knowledgeable in starting-up and operating their own business.

New Vice-Presidents. Fr. Ramon (L) is now the VP for Finance & Administration while Fr. Alviola (R) is the VP for Religious Affairs.                              
A Thomasian Legacy. Fr. Alve (L) and Fr. Ramon are the forerunners of CST-R’s application to operate as a higher education institution. Both are Thomasians who belong to Batch 1988 and 1987, respectively.                                                                                                                                                     
Office of the President. For 81 years, this room that hosted the signing of the Declaration has served as Office of the Principal. Now, it is the Office of the College President.
