“Is that real brotherhood?”

Colegio de Sto. Tomas-Recoletos President Rev. Fr. Cristopher Maspara, OAR took to the pulpit to relate the dangers of hazing and fraternity violence and warn Thomasians during the First Friday Mass last March 3, 2023, with the college Thomasians in attendance.

Fr. Maspara, who has at least a decade of experience as religious administrator in a university and college, began his homily by opening up about the recent hazing tragedy in another Catholic university in Manila and in a private university in Cebu City.

“Is that real brotherhood?” He warned that hazing and other fraternity-related violence do not symbolize nor signify brotherhood. Instead, hazing is a violation against life itself.

In accordance with the Lenten Season, the Fr. President has asked Thomasians to be one with the community of Catholic schools and colleges in praying for the souls of the latest victims of hazing.

Trusting the spiritual formation of Thomasians, he hoped that students of CST-R would avoid joining such organizations.

CST-R’s College Department now has two course offerings including BS in Criminology and BS in Entrepreneurship. The pioneering batch has 168 Thomasians.
