New Thomasians, among them seventh graders, transferees and first year students, were introduced to the Devotion to the Sacred Heart of Jesus during the August 2 First Friday Mass at Sto. Tomas de Villanueva-Recoletos Chapel.
As an Augustinian Recollect school, CST-R has an established Devotion to the Sacred Heart. In order to fully imbibe the devotion, Rev. Fr. Cristopher C. Maspara, OAR, CST-R president, led the distribution of stampita or prayer cards of the Sacred Heart of Jesus to Thomasians.
During his homily, Fr. Maspara emphasized to the students that “We strive to see Jesus’s presence in each person.”
Meanwhile, Rev. Fr. Joel Dequilla, OAR, vice-president for administration and finance, was the main celebrant and homilist during the Holy Mass that the entire College Department attended. At present, there are now three levels in the department with at least 522 students. In his homily, Fr. Dequilla focused on sharing to new Thomasians his hopes that their college years at CST-R will truly ‘educate’ them as future public servants and professionals.
The first year BS in Criminology and BS in Entrepreneurship students and transferees were also introduced to the Devotion to the Sacred Heart of Jesus.
