San Sebastian College-Recoletos de Cavite hosted the 34th Student’s Congress of Recollect Schools (SCORES) from November 5 to 9, 2019 where 11 Recollect schools in the Philippines gathered to celebrate the unity in diversity of the Recollect community.
SCORES Season 34 has the theme— “Recollect Filipino Youth: Catalyst for Change for Nation Building.”
Being a delegate for SCORES gives one a chance to experience the distinct traditions and cultures around the Philippines. This year is all about experiencing the Caviteño culture. As each of the delegations arrived in SSC-R Cavite on November 5, they were warmly accommodated by the Boy and Girl Scouts.
The Karakol, a traditional procession-dance in Cavite, was then showcased with ensemble of select SSC-R talents. The Holy Mass was celebrated that afternoon and the turn-over ceremony and orientation followed.
Delegates then met with the families that would foster them for their stay in Cavite.
The second day was the congress proper and it started with a Eucharistic celebration.
Rev. Fr. Leander Villalino Barrot, OAR and Mr. Jonathan V. Gochuinco were the speakers. Their talks centered on how Recoleto values are imbibed by the youth as catalysts for change, nation building, leadership and promoters of social media responsibility.
The delegates, together with their chaperones, paid a visit to the historical Aguinaldo Shrine in Kawit, Cavite on the same day.
The team building event was the highlight of the third day where all the delegates participated in the Amazing Race Cavite edition. The race also masked as a tour to the historical landmarks of Cavite City.
In the evening, different festival dances were performed by each of the delegations. The features presentations ignited different traditions and colorful cultures at the SSC-R gymnasium.
On the fourth day, the delegates toured Enchanted Kingdom in Santa Rosa, Laguna. As the day ended, each delegate earned great memories and formed wonderful bonds with fellow Recollect youth.
November 9 was the day for going home. Many shed a tears of bitter-sweet goodbyes. Delegates promised to return and reunite with their new found friends and families in Cavite.
The full essence of SCORES bloomed as friendships were made and bonds were strengthened. In the end, the delegates were inculcated with Recollect values needed for building a better, stronger, more progressive Filipino nation.
