1 of 80 Mementos Feature Patriarchs of Thomasian Families

The very first contribution to the “80 Years, 80 Mementos” movement that will re-establish the Thomasian mini-museum has been officially donated.

The item is a 65-year old Commencement Program Souvenir of the 1955 Commencement Ceremony held at the famed Eden Theater, San Carlos.

Mr. Virgilio Atienza was featured in the program as the Class Valedictorian while Mr. Salvador Rigor, Jr. was the Class Salutatorian. In a curious coincidence, Mr. Atienza was a Golden Jubilarian who delivered the Commencement Speech in the 2005 Colegio de Sto. Tomas-Recoletos graduation during which his son Carlo was among the graduates. While also among the same 2005 batch was Ramon Antonio Salvador, the grandson of Mr. Rigor.

In the olden days, the celebrated CST-R Commencement also included the “Rigodon de Honor.” The third graders of SCES were the performers of the formal dance that long-ago March 31, 1955.

CST-R continues to call Thomasians to send or bring in their prized Thomasian memorabilia and become part of the historic 80th Founding Anniversary celebration of “Alma Mater Dear.”
