Religious in the Diocese of San Carlos Celebrated World Day for Consecrated Life

By Sr. Sharon Templaza, FMIJ

In 1997, Pope St. John Paul II instituted the annual Feast of the Presentation of the Lord as the World Day for Men and Women in Consecrated Life. This global celebration is now on its 28th year.

The Religious in the Diocese of San Carlos joined the 9 AM Eucharistic celebration at the San Carlos Borromeo Cathedral that Most Rev. Bishop Gerardo A. Alminaza, D.D. presided.

Religious Sisters and priests accompanied His Excellency during the entrance procession.

Rev. Fr. Cristopher Maspara, OAR and Rev. Fr. Joel Dequilla, OAR concelebrated at the altar with Bishop Alminaza.

Following the Holy Mass, the Religious proceeded to Sto. Tomas de Villanueva-Recoletos Refectory for a short meeting and a communal meal. Fr. Dequilla, OAR, the president of the Association for Religious Men and Women in the Diocese of San Carlos held a brief meeting on some important concerns facing the Church and the upcoming activities within the Diocese.

The day concluded with a delightful lunch, filled with camaraderie, laughter, and shared stories. It was a day of celebration and thanksgiving to God for the gift of vocations and the mission within the Diocese of San Carlos.
