“The mission of the Order is near to the people.”
On the 437th Day of the Order today, December 5, 2025, Rev. Fr. Enrico Peter Silab, OAR, prior of Recoletos de San Carlos, led the Augustinian Recollects in a solemn celebration replete with humble celebration and a commemoration of the very essence of the Recollection.
During his homily, that the Augustinian Recollect sisters from Colegio de Sta. Rita de San Carlos, the Secular Augustinian Recollect Fraternity (SARF) San Carlos Chapter, and the Recollect Augustinian Youth de Tomas (RAY) attended, Fr. Silab shared about the history of the Order of Augustinian Recollects (OAR). While the historical narrative became an unwritten tradition during the Day of Order, he added that “The conversion of St. Augustine resonates with all of us today” relating the stories of the OAR father and that of the Order itself to current lives.
Fr. Silab emphasized the importance of looking deeply into the values of St. Augustine especially during this time when many challenges try the faith and the missionary work of the Church.
He called on his brother and sister Augustinian Recollects to humility and service.
“[Let us follow] the example of the Recollects that true greatness is found in humility and service…” because the Augustinian Recollects, “We are a global missionary family.”
The Augustinian Recollect fathers, AR sisters, SARF and RAY renewed their vows after the Holy Mass was offered.
