July 15, 2022—Five ARCORES International Volunteers from Spain visited Colegio de Sto. Tomas-Recoletos and Monteagudo, Recoletos.
The volunteers were sent to RESOURCE Handumanan in Bacolod City where community-members are beneficiaries of varied ARCORES initiatives from livelihood programs to typhoon relief operations.
Rev. Fr. Cristituto Palomar, OAR (second from R) of the University of Negros Occidental-Recoletos and Mr. Aaron Kim Gil, Resource Handumanan social worker, took the volunteers to a day tour of San Carlos City including Colegio de Sto. Tomas Recoletos. Meanwhile, Rev. Fr. Joel Alve, OAR, president of CST-R, accompanied the Spanish volunteers during the brief campus tour that highlighted the Augustinian Recollect school’s Spanish architecture and heritage.

Differences and similarities. Vidal and Fr. Alve discuss differences and idiosyncrasies that mark educational systems in Europe and the Philippines. Day Trip. The volunteers take time off socio-cultural work at Resource Handumanan to see the sprawling CST-R Campus. Dropping By Monteagudo, Philippines! The volunteers visit the St. Ezekiel Underground Prayer Room at Monteagudo, Recoletos, an uphill retreat that was named after Monte Agudo in Spain. Worth the Hike. Romero strikes and pose and says it is worth the hike to be up here. The Best View. Taking advantage of the best backdrop at the Resurrection Hill, every one took turns to pose with San Carlos City and Sipaway Island on the background.
