Seventeen aspiring first aiders underwent the Dente Y Ayuda (DYA) Filipinas Basic First Aid Training for Kids or Txiki DYA last June 18, 2022 at the Colegio de Sto. Tomas-Recoletos Cultural Hall.

Ms. Liezl Gerasmo, RN, EMT; Engr. Fritz Carlos A. Gerasmo, MECE; Joahari Ayeng; and

Roland Japitana, EMT, composed the DYA Filipinas team of trainers in introducing the participants to the importance of basic first aid knowledge and skills. First aid for common sports injuries and the ambulance familiarization tour were the highlights of the training for kids aged six to 12.

The participants learned proper handwashing techniques that must be observed prior and after giving first aid. They also took turns in practicing the basic bandaging techniques for bleeding wounds and the proper transferring techniques of injured persons.

Txiki DYA at CST-R is already the sixth batch of kiddie first aid trainees.
