A ‘Salamat Po’ TO ALL FRONTLINERS

To all FRONTLINERS,

“Perhaps you were made for this moment, to walk through blazing fire and come forth as gold.”

As a kid, it is a common misconception that people are only considered as heroes if they have:

  1. super powers
  2. a cape

It is a bonus if they actually have both. When I was a child, I would find myself inside my uncle’s room, reading his comics and wondering what Lois Lane feels after being constantly saved by Clark Kent, Superman himself. Now at 17, that mindset procured by fictional heroes changed and I witnessed heroic acts that did not involve powers and capes along the way.

The corona virus pandemic is highly dangerous as it claimed many lives in the process. Though we see brave humans that continuously fight, putting themselves in a dangerous situation.

This letter is dedicated to you, our selfless masked heroes. Thank you for tirelessly working through such a dangerous challenge to maintain safety. Thank you for being selfless and courageous.

After all, real heroes don’t wear capes. At this time around, they wear masks.

You all are the heroes of today’s generation who are constantly fighting for us. I highly appreciate all of your sacrifices to serve the people in the midst of a deadly virus.

Thank you for your unending bravery and commitment to save lives despite knowing that you are always putting your lives at risk. I admire your passion, courage and your fighting spirit. We all pray for your safety in this dangerous journey. I salute you all.

Thank you for being our Clark Kent!

“A hero is someone who has given his or her life to someone bigger than oneself.”
