One Exemplary Research Achievement, three Panelist’s Choice Awards, two Most Outstanding Research Topic Awards and two Best Oral Presenter Awards were all in the bag for Thomasian Grade 12 Researchers at the 7th Josenian SHS Research Summit at the University of San Jose-Recoletos in Cebu City, March 4 to 6, 2025.
The paper “Pineapple Leaf Fiber (Ananas comosus) and Coconut Coir (Cocos nuci) Alternative Fiberboard Production for Boats won the highest Exemplary Research Achievement Award. Gabriel T. Tremocha, Grade 12-OLMM, presented the paper for which he won the Panelist’s Choice Best Presenter Award.
“SoPoMSA : Solar-Powered Misting System as an Outdoor Area Cooling Solution Automated by Arduino,” which is a timely study during the season of extremely high surface temperatures, won the Panelist’s Choice Award. Another Panelist’s Choice for Most Outstanding Research Topic was the paper “Eco-Friendly Cork Board Alternative: Upcycling Chicken Feathers and Eggshells into Sustainable Materials.”
Raff Lauren P. Quindo, Grade 12-NSS, who presented “Fire Detector Tracking Location Using Automated Calls and Arduino-Facilitated Short Messaging Service (ATLAS),” was also awarded the Best Presenter.
Meanwhile, the paper “Arduino-Based Solar Powered Water Dispenser using Recycled Plastic Bottles” received the Most Outstanding Research Topic.
Thomasian researchers have been joining the JSRS for at least three years in a row now and during all the editions have reaped awards and accolades for their research and innovation.
