February 24, 2025—Thomasian teachers, staff and students gathered at the Colegio de Sto. Tomas-Recoletos, Inc. Quadrangle with lighted candles to pray for those who lost their lives during the rule of Martial Law and as a remembrance for the People Power Revolution at EDSA.

Included in the prayer, which the Diocese of San Carlos also promulgated, was the thanksgiving for the valor and sacrifices of Filipinos who fought for the restoration of democracy in the Philippines after Martial Law was declared in September 23, 1972.

Leading the prayers were Dr. Marinell Ocampo, LPT, PhD, Basic Education Department principal, Ms. Ma. Ena A. Marcellana, Senior High School coordinator and Ms. Amelia Cultura Junior High School Department.

The gathering pre-empted the actual 39th Anniversary of People Power Revolution, or commonly called EDSA, on February 25, 2025.

CST-R, together with many Catholic schools in the country like the University of Sto. Tomas, University of Negros Occidental-Recoletos and the De La Salle Schools in the Philippines, declared an academic and administrative holiday to remember what is dubbed online as #EDSA39.

Despite the Rain. Thomasians flock even the lobby of St. Augustine Building as the rain threatened to impede the Candle Lighting Ceremony for the 39th Anniversary of the People Power Revolution at EDSA.
