IN PHOTOS: Remembering the late Fr. Cabarles on his Death Anniversary
The Wake. Rev. Fr. Rafael E. Cabarles, OAR spent his last 17 years in Sto. Tomas de Villanueva-Recoletos, San Carlos City. His wake was in the STV-R Chapel that he used to decorate for both Advent and Lent Seasons.
Worker of the Diocese. Most Rev. Gerardo Alminaza, DD, Bishop of San Carlos, applauded Fr. Cabarles’s efforts to help uplift the diocese, such efforts included providing support to seminarians through recollections and talks and developing Monteagudo Recoletos as a place of retreat and prayer. Bishop Alminaza presided over the last funeral mass for Fr. Cabarles in STV-R Chapel.
Farewell.
Brothers. Augustinian Recollects carried their late brother’s coffin into the San Nicolas de Tolentino Parish in Talisay City, Negros Occidental. Talisay City was Fr. Cabarles’s hometown.
Good-bye, Manong Paeng. The Cabarles sisters bid their last farewell to Fr. Cabarles who they fondly called Manong Paeng.
The Last Prior. Rev. Fr. Vicente Ramon, Jr., OAR was Fr. Cabarles’s last prior. In God’s grand design, Fr. Cabarles was Fr. Ramon’s first superior when the latter was first assigned to Valencia, Negros Oriental as a Recollect brother.
A Priest Forever. A brother priest from the Diocese of Bacolod bid his last farewell to Fr. Cabarles.
Siempre Recoletos. Augustinian Recollects from the different communities in the Visayas celebrated the colorful life and times of Fr. Cabarles. After the Funeral Mass, Fray Joaquin Jamelo, OAR (front, leftmost) led the procession of Fr. Cabarles’s coffin.
Resting Place. Fr. Cabarles was laid to rest at the Bacolod Memorial Park last October 25, 2021, a day after what would have been his 80th birthday.
